2012 Summer Arts Camps
CSC’s Summer Arts Camps give students in grades preschool-12 quality
hands-on experience in the performing & visual arts through structured
classes taught by professional artists. Projects prepared in each class
are presented in a final showcase at the end of each camp. Founded by
January Johnson-Wolfe in 1992, the camps have been successful for the
past 20 years.

Mission
The mission of the Summer Arts Camps is to:
- Inspire individual creativity and arts ability;
- Provide opportunities for West Virginia youth to explore the arts in
various disciplines that may not have otherwise been presented to
them;
- Offer experiences in team building and working towards a common
goal to young people from different backgrounds;
- Present the opportunity to make new friends with similar
interests;
- Give young people tools to become critical thinkers and
problem-solvers;
- Provide arts exposure and experience to disadvantaged youth;
- Spark a realization of individual talent;
- Enrich the lives of children who have less access to an arts
education;
- Build self-esteem and enhance interpersonal growth;
- Offer tools that will teach our young people how to utilize the
arts as a form of communication & individual expression;
- Provide an opportunity for local artists to make a living within
their own community;
- Set an example of how up and coming artists can make a living
within their community by utilizing local West Virginia artists as instructors;
- Help to develop future artists and arts advocates.
